How Zorlya removes duplicate job postings

Zorlya drops a posting as a duplicate in two cases only. Either its link matches one already seen, or its title, company, location and description are identical to a stored posting. Anything that is merely similar is kept as a separate job.

How to follow up without being a nuisance

Send one short message that names the role, the date you applied and one useful thing, and ask a question that is easy to answer. Check the posting for a stated timeline first, send to a person or a listed address, and stop after two messages.

Why a cover letter should quote your resume

A cover letter is believed when its claims can be checked against the resume beside it, so each claim should come from the resume itself. By default Zorlya writes each letter from the five passages of your resume closest to the job, or from one stored resume you pick, and may not invent a project, a number or an employer. You edit it before anything is sent.

Remote jobs and your country: what remote means

A remote job is usually open only to countries where the employer can legally pay and employ you, so check the location line before you apply. Read it for a country, a region or a time zone, learn what each phrase usually means, and ask directly whether the employer can hire in your country. If it cannot, a polite question is still worth sending.

Is this remote job really remote? A checklist

A posting that says remote can still require a country, a time zone, a legal right to work, or days in an office. Check five things before you apply: where you may live, which hours overlap, who pays you, what equipment and travel are expected, and what the contract says about moving. Most answers are in the text, and the rest take one email.

How a career changer reframes past work on a resume

List what the new field asks for, map each item to something you already did in your old job, and lead with that evidence. Put a short summary at the top that names the move, order sections by relevance rather than by date, and keep the old job title as it was.

Resume formatting mistakes that cost interviews

Most formatting trouble comes from a short list of file and layout choices: a scanned or locked file, text in images, tables and columns, contact details in a header, and unusual headings. Use the twelve point check below, then run a copy and paste test. No one outside an employer can see its system, so the goal is a file that reads cleanly, not a file tuned to a guess.

ASEAN Secretariat jobs and other regional bodies

We could not read the ASEAN Secretariat's website, which refused our reader, so this post covers the regional bodies in Asia and the Pacific we could read. APEC hires from its member economies by email, the Pacific Community asks for a resume, a cover letter and answers to screening questions, and the ASEAN Foundation runs short application windows and unpaid internships.

Agricultural research jobs: CGIAR and others

CGIAR jobs are posted by each research centre on its own job board, and the CGIAR careers page links all of them. Scientist posts ask for a PhD and years of research, many posts are recruited locally, and PhD, MSc and fellowship places sit on the same boards as staff jobs.

Tailor a resume to a posting without rewriting it

Read the posting for three things to mirror: the role's name, the first responsibilities listed, and the tools or skills named more than once. Change your words only where the posting's term describes work you did, and never copy a claim you cannot back up in an interview.

Foundation jobs: what foundations hire for

Foundation jobs are posted on each foundation's own careers page and filled through an online application system, one opening at a time. The large foundations covered here hire grantmaking, strategy and operations staff, many from outside philanthropy. Check the location and your right to work first, because the Gates Foundation sponsors visas only for some leadership roles.

Interviewing in a second language: how to prepare

To prepare for an interview in a second language, write and rehearse your main answers aloud in that language, practise the follow-up questions as well as the answers, and learn a few phrases for asking for a repeat or finding a missing word. The CEFR scale for interviews shows what B1, B2 and C1 speakers can do.
