Changelog

What changed, and when.

Every change ships with a note, in plain words. New things, things that got better, and things we fixed.

Plan cards without usage

Improved
  • The plan cards in Settings, Billing show what each plan includes and nothing about how much you have used.
  • Your use of each limit is in the usage table on the same page.

Sign in with GitHub

New
  • Sign in and sign-up pages have a Continue with GitHub button, next to the other ways to sign in.
  • If the GitHub address matches an account that already exists, you confirm it is yours with your password or a passkey before the two are linked.
  • Settings has a Connect GitHub button in Connected accounts, and you can disconnect it there.
  • Once GitHub is connected, you can choose to read your own public GitHub activity into your profile skills. It is off until you turn it on.

New layout for emails

Improved
  • All emails from Zorlya share one new layout, with the Zorlya name at the top, a clear button and a footer that says why you got the message.
  • Every email also has a plain text version that keeps all its links.
  • Security notices keep their line for the case where it was not you, with the link to act on it: reset your password, or disconnect the app.
  • Emails that state a time limit now say it in the message itself.

Privacy page updated

Improved
  • A new part explains the sign-up channel: when you arrive on a link that carries a short label such as youtube, Zorlya keeps that one label for the visit and saves it once when you create an account. It holds no personal detail, and staff see only counts by channel.
  • A new part explains jobs you add yourself: they are private to your account, are not searched or counted anywhere else, can be deleted at any time and are included when you export your data.
  • The text of a job you add is treated like any other job text when a model scores or explains it.

Employer directory pages

Improved
  • A country page shows 24 employers picked at random, the same 24 all day, with the number of employers listed as a round floor.
  • Each country page says when its list was last updated and names the sources that have roles in that country. A country with no source yet says so.
  • A company page lists the facts Zorlya holds: website, careers page, country, industry and the hiring system it reads, if any. It says plainly when the company has not claimed the page.
  • The public site still shows no jobs. Roles are scored in the app after you sign in.

Data in the European Union

Improved
  • Company mail, and any file we keep in Cloudflare R2, is now stored in the European Union. The privacy policy and the security page say so. Support ticket attachments, profile pictures and the database are not part of this move: they are still in the database, which Zorlya runs itself and which the pages do not claim is in the European Union.
  • The privacy policy now says support tickets are kept for as long as the service runs and are not deleted with your account.

Privacy policy and sub-processors updated

Improved
  • The privacy policy now covers mail sent to our addresses: it is stored in a private Cloudflare R2 bucket and the database, Trash and Spam are deleted after 30 days, and a deleted mailbox is emptied after 30 days.
  • A new section explains support tickets: what one holds, the confirmation link for visitors, that unconfirmed tickets are deleted after 7 days, and that tickets are not removed when you delete your account. Ask us to delete one.
  • A new section explains profile pictures and the pictures of people who write to us, including what Gravatar, the Cloudflare DNS service and a sender's own site receive, and the Look up sender pictures switch.
  • The cookies and storage section says what the offline service worker keeps: the app's own files only, cleared when you sign out.
  • The security page's sub-processor table lists R2, Email Routing, Email Sending, DNS lookups and Worker logs under Cloudflare, adds Google for forwarded copies, and gives Gravatar's new use.

Sender pictures in the mail app

New
  • People who write to you now have a picture beside their messages when one can be found: their Gravatar, the brand logo their domain publishes (BIMI, only for mail that passed its DMARC check), or their company's logo. Otherwise you still see initials.
  • The platform looks the picture up, never your browser, so nobody outside learns that you read their message or from where. Only a hash of the address (Gravatar) or the sender's domain leaves the server, and nothing is asked for your own domains or for the logo of Gmail, Outlook and other free mail providers.
  • Answers are kept for 30 days when found and 7 when not, so one sender is looked up once for everybody. Lookups are limited to 20 a minute per person and 40 a minute overall.
  • Settings, Profile has a switch, "Look up sender pictures", on by default. When it is off nothing is looked up and only pictures of mailboxes on this instance and initials show. A platform administrator can turn the feature off for everyone with MAIL_SENDER_PICS.

Faster pages and cookieless page statistics

Improved
  • Pages reach their largest content about a second sooner on a slow mobile connection, and a long blog title no longer pushes the article down when the font arrives.
  • Google Analytics now loads after the page has finished, so it no longer competes with the page for the first paint. A visitor who leaves before it loads is not counted.
  • The privacy policy and the security page now list Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views and load times on zorlya.com with no cookies and nothing stored on your device.

Mailbox pictures

New
  • A mailbox owner can add a picture under Settings, Profile in the mail app. It shows in the top bar, the mailbox switcher, beside the sender in the message list and the message, and in the From line when writing.
  • Senders who are not colleagues show their initials on a colour that stays the same for that address. No outside lookup is made for them.
  • Administrators can see a mailbox's picture in the Dash and remove it.
  • People outside the mail app do not see the picture. Gmail and other mail programs choose their own.

Profile page in the Dash

New
  • Staff can edit their name, job title and profile picture from Profile in the account menu. Pictures are cropped to a square in the browser and must be PNG, JPEG or WebP.

Buy first, register after

New
  • You can buy a plan from the pricing page before you have an account. Pay with Freemius, then create your account with the same email and the plan is attached once you verify it.
  • A Team trial started this way needs the account within 12 days. A payment nobody claims within 14 days is refunded.
  • The pricing page checks that you are a person before it opens the checkout.

Pricing split by audience

Improved
  • Pricing now has two pages. One is for job seekers and one is for companies.
  • The job seeker page covers the free plan and tells you that a paid Plus plan is planned. A link leads to the company page.
  • The company page has the Free, Team and Business plans, the monthly or annual switch, the Team trial terms and answers to billing questions.
  • A switch at the top of each page takes you to the other one.
  • The footer links to both pages.

Clearer pricing pages

Improved
  • Both pricing pages have a monthly or annual switch, so you can compare what each costs over the year.
  • Each page has a table that shows what every plan includes.
  • A plan that is not on sale yet says so in the same words everywhere.
  • The Buy button now takes you to the plan and billing period you picked.
  • While we test payments, a notice on the page tells you so.
