iCIMS jobs are openings an employer posts on its own iCIMS career site. The address usually looks like careers-name.icims.com. You search or filter the job list, open a job to read the fields above the description, and apply with the button on that page. The employer decides who is interviewed, and iCIMS handles your data on the employer’s instructions.
iCIMS is an applicant tracking system, or ATS: software an employer uses to post jobs and collect applications. If you want the general picture first, what an ATS does with your resume explains it. This post is about the candidate side of one system.
How do you recognise an iCIMS career site?
By the address. The sites we read had the form careers-name.icims.com, for example the career site of the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) and iCIMS’s own at careers.icims.com. A job page has the form careers-name.icims.com/jobs/ followed by a number, the job title and the word “job”. The number is the job’s identifier. Note it if you need to quote the role.
We did not check how many employers put their own domain in front of iCIMS. If a careers page on an employer’s own address sends you to an address ending in icims.com when you click a job, you are on an iCIMS site.
What does the job list show?
On the list we read, a search form sat above the openings. It could narrow the list by these fields:
| Filter | What it holds on the CHAI site |
|---|---|
| Business unit | The team or country programme, such as “Country Programs - Rwanda” or “Finance - Accounting” |
| Posted date | Today, past 7, 14, 30, 60 or 90 days, past 6 months, past year |
| Type | Full time, part time, temporary, intern, independent contractor, volunteer and others |
| Location | A country, such as Kenya or Zambia, or the United States |
The fields come from the employer’s setup, so another iCIMS site may offer different ones. The list page tells you to click the job title for more information and to apply from that page. It also asks you to enable cookies, because the site uses them for the application. If a search returns nothing, change one filter at a time: a narrow type and a narrow location together often empty the list.
What does an iCIMS job page show?
The page we read, a health financing role in Kigali, put a block of fields above the text:
| Field | Example on the page |
|---|---|
| Country | Rwanda |
| City | Kigali |
| Type | Full Time |
| Program (Division) | Country Programs - Rwanda |
| Telecommute | No |
Below the fields came the employer’s own sections: an overview of the organisation, a programme overview, and then the duties and requirements. Read the type and the telecommute line before the description. A “Type” that reads “Temporary | Full-Time” or “Independent Contractor” is a different kind of engagement from a permanent post, and it changes what you are applying for. The page title also carried the city, which helps if you search for a place.
The page has three buttons: one to apply online, one to share the job and one to refer it to a friend. The posted date and a closing date did not appear in the visible fields on the page we read. If you need a deadline, look for it in the description or on the employer’s own careers page. How to read an application deadline covers what to do when it is missing.
How do you apply on an iCIMS site?
Open the job and use the apply button. The button’s link on the page we read contained “mode=apply”, which tells you it opens the application for that job. We did not open the application itself: the site’s robots.txt file asks automated readers to stay away from its login, candidate and referral pages, and we followed that. So we cannot describe the form’s fields from our own reading.
What we can say is how to prepare:
- Enable cookies for the site. The list and job pages both warn that you need them to apply.
- Use one email address for every application on iCIMS sites, so that the confirmation emails and any returning-candidate login sit in one inbox.
- Save your resume as a PDF with your name in the file name, and have a plain-text version ready in case a field asks you to paste your experience. Resume formatting mistakes that cost interviews with ATS software lists what breaks in these forms.
- Copy the job description into a note before you apply. Postings are often taken down when a role closes, and you will want the text for your interview.
- Keep the confirmation. Write down the job title, the identifier from the address, the date and the employer.
Returning candidates
Each iCIMS site shows a “Returning Candidate? Log back in!” link at the top. We did not read the login page. In practice, a profile on one employer’s iCIMS site is for that employer: use it to see or update your application there. Whether a profile carries across employers, we do not know and will not guess.
Who controls your data on iCIMS?
The employer does. iCIMS’s Services Privacy Notice, effective 26 June 2025, says that each employer (“Subscriber”) controls the information it collects from candidates, how it is used and disclosed, and how it can be changed. It says that candidates must contact the employer about privacy rights or data requests, including access, correction, deletion and portability. iCIMS says it processes this data as the employer’s data processor.
In plain terms: when you want your application data deleted, write to the employer you applied to, not to iCIMS. The same notice says iCIMS lets employers configure consent, opt-in, opt-out and unsubscribe options. iCIMS also states that its processing includes automated methods such as machine learning and generative AI. That is a statement about iCIMS’s own processing for its services. What an individual employer does with those tools in its screening is the employer’s choice, and a site that uses them should say so. If the site does not, ask.
A separate notice, the Talent Acquisition Privacy Notice, covers people who apply for jobs at iCIMS itself. It does not describe applying to other employers on iCIMS.
What happens after you apply?
That depends on the employer. The iCIMS site gives you a way back in, the employer’s recruiter reviews applications, and the employer chooses its own steps. Treat the confirmation email as the start of your tracking. Write down the date, the role, the contact address and when you expect to hear. Track applications so follow-ups happen gives a simple way to do this, and how to follow up after an application without being a nuisance says when to write.
Be careful with messages that claim to come from an iCIMS site. A real iCIMS career site is at an address ending icims.com, and the employer’s own staff write to you from the employer’s domain. Never pay a fee to apply. How to check that a job posting is real lists the checks.
Does Zorlya read iCIMS jobs?
Not by default, and this post does not claim it does. Zorlya’s iCIMS reader is registered but inert. It reads through the iCIMS API, which answers for one customer account rather than for each company, so it needs that account’s username, password and customer identifier. Without all three it reads nothing and records that it did not run. With them it makes one sign-in request and one search, and a wrong password shows as a failed run.
So you should not expect Zorlya to show the jobs on an arbitrary iCIMS career site. Where a role does reach Zorlya, from iCIMS or elsewhere, it names its source and links to the original posting, and you apply there. Zorlya reads 130+ sources in all, listed in the app after you sign in; where the jobs come from explains the kinds.
Questions people ask
Do I need an account to apply on an iCIMS site?
We could not read the application, so we cannot say. The site offers a login for returning candidates, and the pages say you need cookies on. Check the first screen of the application.
How do I delete my data from an iCIMS application?
Write to the employer. iCIMS’s notice says candidates must contact the employer about access, correction, deletion and portability, because the employer controls the data.
Why does the site ask me to enable cookies?
The list and job pages say the cookies are needed for personalised features, including applying. If you block cookies, the apply step may fail.
Can I apply to several jobs on one iCIMS site?
Nothing on the pages we read forbids it. Apply only to the roles you can do, and keep a note of each.
What we know and what we do not
The facts above come from iCIMS’s Services Privacy Notice and Talent Acquisition Privacy Notice, both effective 26 June 2025 and both read again on 31 October 2026, and from one employer’s public list and job page, read on 26 October 2026 after we checked robots.txt on each host. We did not read any login, candidate or referral page, and we did not open an application. We do not know the exact fields of an application, whether a profile carries across employers, or how many employers use their own domain in front of iCIMS. Details such as filters and fields vary by employer.
