A match score is a number from 0 to 100 that shows how closely one job posting fits your resume and your preferences. Zorlya builds it from four parts, and a fifth when the posting states a seniority level. It shows the four parts and, for each match you refresh, writes a short reason under the score. Read the parts, not only the total.

## The four parts

- **Resume fit:** whether the work in the posting looks like the work on your resume.
- **Skills match:** the skills the posting asks for against the skills on your profile.
- **Salary fit:** the top of the posted range against the salary floor you set.
- **Location fit:** whether the job is remote, hybrid or on site, and whether that and the place match what you said you will take.

Each part has a weight, and each role track carries its own weights. When a posting states a seniority level, that adds a fifth signal.

## Read the breakdown

1. Open **Jobs** and select a job.
2. Find the score ring and the bar for each part.
3. Compare the parts with the total.

What you may see:

- A high total with a low location fit usually means the work fits and the arrangement does not.
- A high skills match with a low resume fit means you have the keywords but not the shape of the work.
- A salary marked as not stated, such as "This posting states no salary", is left out when you set no salary floor. A part with nothing to measure is left out and its weight is shared among the others, so a missing salary does not pull the number toward the middle. With a floor set, a missing salary scores 45 and counts.
- A job with **Not scored yet** has no score. Select **Score this job** to ask for one. A job you added without its text has no score until you add the text. [Add a job from any site](/guides/applications/add-a-job-from-any-site) explains it.

## Read the reason

When you refresh your matches, or select **Score this job**, two or three sentences written for that job and your resume appear under the score. They name a skill you have that the posting asks for and a part of your background that maps to a requirement. A job scored in the background has no reason until then. If the reason credits you with something you only listed and never used, weigh that score down.

## What a score is not

A score is not a prediction that you will get the job. It measures how closely a posting matches what you have done and what you asked for. It is also only as good as your profile, so a resume that says what you built, with numbers, scores better than a list of keywords. If scores look wrong, check your skills and salary floor on [your profile](/guides/getting-started/create-your-account-and-upload-a-resume).
